Let's ride into summer! Learning to ride a tricycle is a complex skill that requires balance, strength, coordination, and motor planning. When teaching your little one to ride a tricycle, try focusing on one skill at a time - have your child coordinate pedaling while you steer, or have your child steer around obstacles while you push from behind. Keep tricycle riding fun and engaging - create relay races, make obstacle courses, or ride down to the nearest ice cream truck! Making sure the tricycle is a right fit for your child is important for success. If you have any questions about picking the right tricycle for your child, ask your physical therapist. And don't forget to wear a helmet!
